Theresa Anne Miller January 8, 1942 - March 31, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Theresa Miller (83), a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Theresa was the heart of her family—a true matriarch whose life was defined by unwavering love, quiet strength, and boundless generosity.

Theresa Hough was born in Minden, Iowa to parents John and Blanche Hough. Growing up, her family moved around a lot until settling in Homer, Nebraska, where she met her husband, Roger Miller, while in high school. They married in 1961 and went on to have three children, fourteen grandchildren, and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. Theresa also had the opportunity to host a foreign exchange student from Brazil, Claudia Olivera. To this day, Claudia lovingly calls Theresa and Roger “mom and dad,” and has visited and kept in touch with them throughout her life. Theresa spent her career working at First Community Bank in Homer and retired after 45 years of service. During her retirement, she moved to the family farm outside of Homer, where her husband, Roger, spent his childhood. The last few years of her life were spent at Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City, Iowa. She was quite fond of the staff who cared for her and very much enjoyed visits from their babies and young children.

Throughout her life, Theresa was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy came from caring for those she loved. She was a constant and unwavering presence in the lives of her grandchildren—cheering them on at every sporting event, supporting their hobbies, and even lending a helping hand with their part-time jobs. Her home was a place of comfort and joy, where sleepovers were frequent and laughter was always present. Her grandchildren hold dear countless cherished memories: camping at Snyder’s Bend, trips to the farm, sledding adventures, hunting excursions, staying up late to watch comets and meteor showers, and day-after-Thanksgiving shopping trips. Theresa's love wove its way into every moment, creating a lifetime of treasured experiences her family will carry with them forever.

Theresa’s kindness extended beyond her family. She had a special affection for dogs, and any furry friend who crossed her path could expect a treat—whether tucked in her pocket or stashed in her trusty minivan. Her love for animals was just one example of her generous heart. She had a quiet way of making everyone feel valued, offering comfort through simple acts of love—a warm meal, a kind word, or a welcoming smile. Theresa’s compassion touched many lives, and her legacy of love and care will never be forgotten.

Theresa is survived by her loving family, which includes her husband Roger Miller, her daughters Christy (Tony) Josta, Jody Wingert, Kathy (Todd) Rosener, Claudia (Marcos) Olivera, her grandchildren Andrew (Riley) Stolze, Abbie (Adam) Uhl, Jenny (Matt) Handlos, Abbigail (Luis) Escobedo, Aaron (Dena) Wingert, Sara (Jared) Fouts, Taylor (Brian) Kenagy, Samantha (Chance) Bernstrauch, Garrett (Jax) Holgate, Alex (Kelly) Holgate, Jacob (Kaitlyn) Luiken, Maddie Rosener, Ayden Rosener, along with twenty-seven great grandchildren, and countless cousins and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Blanche and John Hough, sister Gloria Burlison, brothers Fred and Tom Hough, and two grandchildren April and Anthony Josta.
