Thomas Lee Stevens, 76, of North Sioux City passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at a local hospital. Per his wishes, his body has been cremated. Services will be held at Heritage Baptist Church, 205 Louis Ave, North Sioux City, SD June 22, 2019 at 11:00am. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting the family.
Thomas was born July 31, 1942 in Sloan, Iowa; he was the son of Ernest and Evelyn (McCoy) Stevens. He was raised on the family farm in Whiting, Iowa. He earned his high school diploma from the Whiting High School. Shortly after graduating, he enlisted in the Air Force. Following his separation from the military, Thomas traveled the country. Afterword, he settled down and raised his four children. He worked as a welder for many years. He Also enjoyed his time working as a farmhand and working with animals. Towards the end of his work life he was well known as Cowboy Tom the trolley driver down on historic 4th. He would always say “I entertain, I want to be unforgettable”
Thomas enjoyed traveling with his wife Carol, camping, and fishing. He was an animal lover and a people person; he loved to talk.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife; brother Gerry (Linda) Stevens of Cabot, AR; sister Kathleen (Bill) Brink of Onawa, IA; sons: Jamie (Karen) Stevens of Tobaccoville, NC; Jason Stevens of Remsen, IA; Scott (Raven) Stevens of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter Sandra (Kevin) Beyer of Mitchell, SD; step-daughters: Julia (Jim Irwin) Goodwin of Sioux City; Myra Baumgartner of Sioux City; Tessie Goodwin of Sioux City; Valerie (Mark Harveston) Goodwin of Sioux City; step-sons Todd (Loretta) Goodwin of Akron, IA and Toby (Beth) Goodwin of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law Joyce Thompson of North Sioux City; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents.
