Victor E. "Vic" Schultz, 59, of Dakota City, NE, formerly of Martinsburg, NE passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Hope Lutheran Church in South Sioux City, NE. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Martinsburg, NE. Visitation with the family present will begin at 5:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City.Vic was born on December 30, 1957 in Sioux City, IA, the son of Willis and Arlene (Mattes) Schultz. He graduated from Allen High School and attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and Northeast Community College in Norfolk. He farmed with his Dad west of Martinsburg. Vic married Cheryl (Cherie) Verzani on July 9, 2000 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Martinsburg. They moved to Santa Teresa, NM and Vic was a commercial pilot for Nord Aviation for 1 ½ years before moving back to the South Sioux City area. He worked at Prince Manufacturing until November of 2013.Vic was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in South Sioux City, NE, a former member of the Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Dept., and was also a very active past member in Trinity Lutheran Church in Martinsburg, holding various positions over the years. He was also a member of the Civil Air Patrol and Gun Owners of America. He was an avid hunter and gun enthusiast and had a great passion for aviation.Survivors include his wife, Cherie Schultz of Dakota City, NE; a son, Tyler King of Ponca, NE; step- children, Dawn (Brian) Borchers of Sioux City, IA and BJ (Stefanie) Verzani of Ponca, NE; granddaughter, Brooklynn King; step-grandchildren, Lauren and Tyler Borchers, Brantley and Averie Verzani; step great-granddaughter, Aria Scofield; sister, Karen (Don) Helberg of Scottsbluff, NE; step-siblings, Cindy (Lee) Ford, Jean Orr, Ken (Laura) Bruggeman, Jim Bruggeman (Penny Rosfjord), Jenny Bruggeman; step brother-in-law, Randy McDonald; and mother-in-law, Annabelle Haahr.He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Arlene Schultz; step-mother, Gloria Schultz; step-sister, Kathy McDonald; and father-in-law, Wendell Haahr.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Aseracare Hospice at Norfolk, NE, Hope Lutheran Church in South Sioux City, NE, Trinity Lutheran Church in Martinsburg, NE or the Martinsburg Volunteer Fire Dept.
