Virgil W. Hinz

Virgil W. Hinz, 63 of Newcastle, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at his home following a lengthy battle with cancer.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at the Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, Nebraska with Pastor Gretchen Ritola officiating. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery in Emerson, Nebraska.Virgil was born on October 7, 1944,, the son of Charley and Emma (Voss) Hinz in rural Waterbury, Nebraska. He grew up in the Waterbury and Newcastle areas and graduated from Newcastle High School. He lived and farmed on the home place in rural Newcastle all his life.He enjoyed his antique wrench collection, engines, guns and playing cards, and pool.Survivors include his special companion, Grace Dickerson; two brothers, Wilbur Hinz of Emerson, Nebraska and Ray and his wife Doris Hinz of Newcastle, Nebraska; one sister, Selma and her husband, Mel Schrader of Mapleton, Iowa; one brother-in-law, Milo and his wife Phyllis Birkley of Hubbard, Nebraska; many nieces and nephews an grand nieces and nephews.Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lucille (Hinz) Birkley; two sisters-in-law, Patty (Rasmussen) Hinz and Julia Hinz.
