Virginia R. Hesse

Virginia Rose Hesse, 85, of Sioux City, IA, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Virginia’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Dwayne, with whom she shared nearly 70 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was a loving mother to her children: Steve (Paige), Byran (Debbie), Marty, Doug (Pam), Donny (Krystal), Rhonda (Don), Rich (Cheryl), and Sheri (Joel). Her love extended through generations, blessing her with 51 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild—each of whom she cherished deeply.

Family was the heart of everything Virginia did. She poured her love into every moment, making sure each child and grandchild knew how special they were. Whether through a warm hug, a shared story, or a home filled with laughter, she created a legacy of love that will live on through those she leaves behind. She was also a cherished aunt to many loving nieces and nephews, who will forever remember her warmth, wisdom, and kindness.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Viola (Fern) Jacobsen; her brother, Douglas; her beloved son, Steve; and her dear daughter-in-law, Debbie. Though she is no longer with us, her kindness, strength, and unwavering love will continue to guide her family. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel 6200 Morningside Ave, Sioux City, IA 51106. Funeral services will take place on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel 6200 Morningside Ave, Sioux City, IA 51106. Burial will be at Westfork Township Cemetery in Climbing Hill, IA.
