Wanda Faye Peterson, 82, of Sioux City, IA, passed away January 15, 2022 at a local nursing home. A graveside service is pending at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Wanda was born on July 13, 1939 in Canton, SD. She graduated from Watertown High School. She was united in marriage to Rodney Peterson on July 3, 1970 in Watertown, SD. Wanda worked at a variety of places throughout her life. She was employed with a poultry plant in Watertown, worked as a meat cutter at Tyson for 26 years, Wells Blue Bunny, and Crystal Café. Wanda was a very giving woman, donating many homemade quilts to those in need. She was a wonderful cook and baker, often making pies from scratch. Once she had been working at Putsch’s Cafeteria in Kansas City when Jacqueline Kennedy came in and tried one of her homemade pies, saying that it was the best pie she had ever had.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband of 50 years, Rodney Peterson, Sioux City, IA; children: Eugene (Terri) Lahn, South Sioux City, NE, Rodney “Joe” Peterson, Sioux City, IA; grandchildren: Drew and Asia; and several great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and step-father, George Vick.
