Warren M. Anderson, 91, of Allen, NE passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel, NE. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca, NE with Rev. Dr. Neal Anthony officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery in rural Ponca. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Friday, February 11, 2011, with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca. Online condolences may be sent at www.mohrfuneralhome.com.Warren was born January 10, 1920 in rural Maskell, NE, the son of Ole and Hilda (Birkley) Anderson. He attended school in Maskell. After school he worked for farmers in the area until moving to Willis in 1939. He farmed in the Willis/Waterbury area until he retired in 1980. He moved to Waterbury in 1981 and to Allen in 1992. He moved into the assisted living wing at Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel in 2007.He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, an honorary member of Dixota Wranglers, and was on the Days of 56 Rodeo Committee. He received the Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor Award in 1966. He enjoyed working with horses, and helped many 4-H children with their horses.Survivors include brothers, Kenneth Anderson of Allen, NE and Milo, and his wife, Mary Lou Anderson of Ponca, NE; sister-in-law, Betty Anderson of Palmyra, Missouri; longtime friend, Betty Chapman of Allen, NE; adopted family, Gary and his wife, Judy Mae Blair of Allen, NE, and their daughters, Hilary, and her husband, Sonny Yeager and Holly and her husband Brent Chappell; many nieces, nephews and cousins.Warren was preceded in death by siblings, Opal Anderson, Leonard and his wife, Margaret Anderson, Marie Anderson, Lloyd and his wife, Jenette Anderson, Arlyn Anderson, Merle Anderson; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Anderson.It was Warren's request that memorials be directed to the Salem Cemetery in Ponca, in lieu of flowers.
