Wayne was born in Sioux City. He loved living in the suburb of Leeds, which he often fondly referred to as “God’s country!” He attended Leeds High School and married Sharon O’Keefe on January 27, 1962. Together they had four children. He worked for many years at the Sioux City waste water treatment plant and then as a maintenance worker at the hospital. For a short time he lived in Sioux Falls, but was always eager to return to the Siouxland area.
It’s wonderful to say that Wayne was quite the character! He often let people know just what he thought. He loved fixing cars, reading books, watching old western movies and attending daily Mass. Earlier in his life he loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and Volks marches in the Black Hills.
Those left to honor his memory include: his wife, Sharon; his brother Bruce and wife Supenn Harrison of Minneapolis; his four children - Bob and wife Jennifer; Mike and wife Phi; Julie; and Lori and fiancé Dennis; his 10 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and his friends.
Those preceding his death include his parents and two sisters, Caroline and Roberta.
His family is very grateful to Holy Spirit Retirement Home and St. Croix Hospice for their wonderful care.
