Wayne W. Weiland

February 17, 1945 — December 28, 2019

Wayne W. Weiland, 74, of South Sioux City, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019.  Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 3, 2020 at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.  Burial will be at a later date.  

Wayne was born the son of Earl and Lois (Tarrell) Weiland on February 17, 1945 in Larrabee, Iowa.  He graduated from Quimby High School.  Wayne married Kathryn Hind on October 26, 1968 in Quimby.  They spent their first year in Fort Carson, Colorado where Wayne was stationed in the Army. After spending time in Denison and Moville, they made their home in South Sioux City for nearly forty years where Wayne worked with Marvin at Becker-Hunt Funeral Home. 

Wayne will be remembered as a patient, loving man who took great pride in his family. He worked tirelessly and found time to help whoever he loved. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had a passion for deer hunting and just being outside. Over the years, his favorite way to relax was to sit in the swing with his wife, Kathy in the back yard, surrounded by their dogs, especially his beloved black lab, Bo.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Kathy Weiland of South Sioux City; children, Jennifer (Jose) Guevara of Sioux City, Ken (Julie) Weiland of Sioux City, and Janelle (Michael) Lewis of Minneapolis; brothers, Eugene Weiland of Cherokee and Jerry Weiland of Connecticut; ten grandchildren, Adrianna, Brianna, Tony, Tyler, Colton, Britton, Brayden, Coen, Lillian and one on the way;  and two great-grandchildren, David, and Grayson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronnie and Darrell; and sisters-in-law, Teeny and Colleen.
