William "Bill" M. Gatz

William "Bill" M. Gatz, 54, of South Sioux City, NE, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at a Sioux City hospital.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Crossroads Evangelical Church in South Sioux City, NE with Rev. Clyde O. Pritchett officiating. Burial will be in Omaha Valley Cemetery in rural Homer, NE. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 6:00 P.M., and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, February 27, 2015, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE.Bill was born in Lynch, NE, on November 7, 1960, the son of Kenneth Merle and Ramona Mae (Pierce) Gatz. He grew up in Jackson, NE, and graduated from Emerson-Hubbard High School in 1979. Bill married Ramona Rae Farley in 1984 in South Sioux City, NE. He received his Bachelor's Degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from Wayne State College in 2003, and his Masters Degree in History from Nebraska Wesleyan College in Lincoln, NE in 2012. Bill worked various jobs before becoming a bread man for Wonder Bread for ten years. He most recently had been employed as a teacher at Winnebago Public School for the past ten years. He loved all of the students and staff at Winnebago, and was so happy to be able to drive to work and eat lunch daily with his daughter, Taylor, who taught alongside him at Winnebago this year.Bill and his wife, Mona, and daughter, Taylor, were very close, and he loved spending time with them. Humor was an integral part of his life. He loved Husker football and attending high school basketball games. He loved all animals, especially his special dogs, Lottie, Chuckles, and Toby.Survivors include his wife, Mona Gatz; daughter, Taylor Gatz; brother, Kenneth Michael Gatz; mother-in-law, Judith Farley; and father-in-law, Gary Farley, all of South Sioux City, NE; and several nieces and nephews.Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Ramona Gatz.
