William "Bill" F. Kai, 78, of South Sioux City, NE passed away at a Sioux City hospital on Tuesday, April 5, 2016.Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE with Rev. Kevin Roach from River Hills Church officiating and military rites at the funeral home by the South Sioux City American Legion Post #307. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Pender Cemetery in Pender, NE.Bill was born in rural Pender, NE on August 1, 1937, the son of John and Edith (Case) Kai. He grew up on a farm near Pender and attended Pender High School. He farmed with his dad before entering the U.S. Army. He was a self-employed painter in Pender and continued his painting business after moving to South Sioux City in 1992.He was a member of the South Sioux City Eagles and the Dakota City American Legion Post 376.Survivors include a brother, Dale Kai and his special friend, Agnes Deal of South Sioux City, NE; a sister, Charlotte Roth of Pender, NE; sister-in-law, Diane Kai of Pender, NE; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Ray Ramirez of Sioux City, IA.Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edith Kai; a brother, Jack Kai; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis (Emory) Breitbarth and Bonnie (Gordon) Simonsen; and a sister-in-law, Elaine Kai.
