William Lee Dermit, 80, of Sioux City, IA passed away peacefully on December 12, 2015 in Sioux City.Memorial services were at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Mohr Funeral Home, 1431 West 29th Street, in South Sioux City, NE with Rev. Stephen Niles officiating. Inurnment will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation with the family was 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral Home. A luncheon followed the services on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, 125 East 21st Street, in South Sioux City.William was born in Ponca, NE to Marvin and Celia Dermit on November 29, 1935. He went to high school in South Sioux City and graduated with the class of 1954. He was an all-city tackle for the Cardinals. William owned and operated Dermit Grain for 46 years.He loved his wife, kids, grandchildren, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Bill also loved making and listening to country music.Bill is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Dermit of Sioux City; his children, Mark and Mary Dermit, Robert Dermit, and his special friend, Yorna Rose, and his daughter, Susan Pinney; his loving grandchildren, Jon, Lauryn, Taylor, and Brittney Dermit, and Ryan, Michael, Seth and Alex Pinney; and his great-grandchildren, Brody, Gianna, Maxx, and Rory.He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and his son, Sammy.Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Lauryn, Taylor, Brittney, Jon, Ryan, Michael, Seth and Alex.The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the extraordinary persons on the oncology floor at Mercy Medical Center for their extremely loving care.The family requests that memorials should be given in Bill's name to the oncology floor at Mercy Medical Center.
