William J. “Bill” Hornbeck, 63, of South Sioux City, passed away Friday, May 14, 2021. A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 20, 2021 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in South Sioux City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Bill was born the son of William and Bonnie (Stueve) Hornbeck on October 3, 1957 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He graduated from Logan High School in Logan, Iowa. Bill married Jean Totten on March 10, 1979 in Logan. After their marriage they spent a short time in Wayne, Nebraska before making South Sioux City their home.
Bill worked as an automotive manager and insurance agent.
He enjoyed all things sports. He loved to play golf and coach youth sports. He liked hunting, fishing, and boating. Spending time with his family and grandchildren was very important to him.
Bill is survived by his wife, Jean Hornbeck of South Sioux City; children, Tim (Molly) Hornbeck of Columbus, Nebraska and Paige (Scott) Butler of Rochester, Minnesota; sister, Lori (Al) Madsen of Spirit Lake; mother, Bonnie Hornbeck of Spirit Lake; and grandchildren, Augusta and Samantha Hornbeck and Aiden and Tagg Butler.
He was preceded in death by his father, William.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the South Sioux City High School Activities Department in Bill’s name.
