Yvonne "Vonnie" M. Langel

   Vonnie Langel, 60, of Sioux City went Home to Her Heavenly Father on August 28, 2021 at a Sioux City hospital.

   Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Riverside Lutheran Church with Pastor Tim Squier officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, September 10, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Sharing of Memories at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

   Vonnie was born in Le Mars, IA on May 21, 1961 to Ervin “Tiny” Langel and Evelyn “Jeanine” Langel.

   She had various jobs throughout her life.  She worked at John Morrell and then moved on to Menu.  After making pet food “to make pets happy” she went on to make people happy at Interbake Foods.  Who doesn’t like cookies?  Then her true passion was being a cook.  She was a cook at MercyOne and then she found the job of her dreams as a lunch lady at West High School.  After all, she was a kid at heart.  But her real passion was being a Disciple of God.  Her faith was very important, she would study the Bible everyday till her illness.  She always shared her faith with everyone she knew.

   She is survived by her spouse of many years Deanna Mercure; Sissy and Honey her four legged kids; sisters: Vicky Hemmelman (Steve) and Julie Miller (Tom); brothers: Dennis Langel, Stephan Langel (Tammy), and Kenneth Langel (Ruth); sisters-in-law: Pat Simon, Bette Beacom and Linda King; brother-in-law, Jerry Mercure (Jo); 35 nieces and nephews; 51 great nieces and nephews; and 18 great-great nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Millage, Sandra Pies, and Barb Dilley; brother-in-law, Bob Mercure; and also her four legged kids: Cuddles, Lady, and Indie.
