Michael “Mike” Graves, 46 of Sioux City, passed away July 6th due to complications of alcoholism. A Memorial Service will be Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. The family will be present from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial service will be at 7 PM with Father Daniel Rupp officiating. The family invites casual attire and welcomes everybody to wear camo and ball caps if desired. A private family burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Mike was born on February 13, 1972 in Sioux City to Douglas and Mary Jane (Bennett) Graves. He graduated from Immaculate Conception Grade School and the 1991 Class of Bishop Heelan High School. He was a state wrestling qualifier at Heelan. Mike continued his education becoming a Licensed Certified Electrician. He was a member of the IBEW local 231, with many friends in the electrical field.
Mike was extremely handy, willing to help anyone, and everyone he could. He willingly shared his talents with those that needed help. Mike enjoyed NASCAR racing, watching football, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed traveling to Oklahoma for Paddle fishing with family and friends. His greatest joy came in life when his daughter Lillian was born. She was the light-of-his-life, and he always called her “Lilly Baby.”
Mike is survived by his daughter Lillian of Sioux City; mother of Sioux City; siblings Dan (Cheri) Graves of Vermillion, SD, Jill (Dave) Rodman of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Tim (Denice) Graves of Sioux City, John Graves of Sioux City, Jane (Mark) Davenport of Sioux City, and Bill (Shannon) Graves of Sioux City; Aunt Maureen Johnson of Omaha, NE; and former wife Jillian Graves of Sioux City, and many nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, beloved sister Amy Mace, and his grandparents.
Mike was a “good egg” whose presence will be greatly missed.
