BRONSON, Iowa -- Helen E. Duncan, 67, of Bronson passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital following many illnesses.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave., with the Rev. James Wilson of First Baptist Church, Climbing Hill, Iowa, officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Helen was born Dec. 18, 1939, in Paul Valley, Okla., the daughter of Virgil and Laura (McCarter) McCurley.

She married William R. "Skeeter" Duncan on Oct. 9, 1959, in Vernon, Texas. After their marriage, the couple lived in Vernon, Texas, for about a year. They relocated to Luton, Iowa, for a short time before settling in Bronson. She was employed with Arden's, the Palmer House and Wal-Mart.

She loved quilting, knitting and crocheting for her family and even donated some of her handiwork to hospitals. She also enjoyed crafts and sewing.

Survivors include her husband, William "Skeeter" Duncan of Bronson; four children, Bryan Duncan and his wife, Pat of Sergeant Bluff, Suzanne and her husband, Barry Claus of Sioux City, Paul Duncan and his wife, Sue of Sioux City and Stacey Duncan and her fiance, Derrick Roth of South Sioux City; two brothers, Fred McCurley and Vernon McCurley; two sisters, Mildred Fox and Doll Brooks; seven grandchildren, Jeff Duncan, Mitch Claus and his fiancee, Alisha Rohraugh, Elizabeth "Beth" Claus and her fiance, Brian McKnight, Pam and her husband, Shane McNaughton, Kristin King, Buddy Tucker and his girlfriend, Valerie LaFave and Jay Tucker; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Linda Dawn (Duncan) Edwards; a great-granddaughter, Jesse Edwards; many brothers and sisters; and her mother-in-law, Anna Mae Duncan.

Pallbearers will be Shane McNaughton, Mitch Claus, Brian McKnight, Jeff Duncan, Buddy Tucker and Jay Tucker. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Polkinghorn and Dale Eberly.
