Donna Van Waart-Wendel

Donna Van Waart-Wendel, 86, of Sioux City, IA, passed away December 27, 2022 at a local hospital.  A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 3^rd at 1:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Donna was born on December 23, 1936 in Sioux City, IA to Donald Lee and Leona Mae (Irwin) Stewart.  She attended Leeds High School and then began her career as a supervisor at Zenith.  She then worked as an office manager for Dr. McAllister Dentistry, retiring in May of 1997.  She was united in marriage to Laville Joseph Van Waart in November of 1953.  To this union they had 4 children.  She later married Walter Wendel and welcomed his three children into her life.

Donna loved her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She was a people person, whether it was sitting outside with her neighbors or having “sister day” with her sister.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Cindy (Ray Bailiff) Williams, Overland Park, KS, Julie (Rick Anderson) Hansen, Sioux City, IA, Mike (Deb) Van Waart, Sioux City, IA, Walt Jr. (Bev) Wendel, Carol (Mark) Walding, Ronnie Wendel and the rest of the Wendel Family; grandchildren: Josh Van Waart, Joe Williams, Cody Hodgins, Nicole Hodgins, Tyson Hodgins; and numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Vicky Lenz and brother, James Stewart.

She is preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; son, Robert Michael Van Waart; sister, Norma Merchant; brother, Jerry Stewart; and a grandson, Zac Williams.
