Gerard John Doyle

Gerard John Doyle, 63, of South Sioux City, NE, passed away October 31, 2022 at a local hospital.  A memorial service will be held Friday, November 4 at 11:00 a.m. at River Hills Church.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior at church.  Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home is assisting the family.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Gerard was born on April 17, 1959 in Renton, WA to William and Marcella (Portner) Doyle.  He was one of 9 children, and was affectionately known by his siblings and parents as “Dear Boy.”  He graduated from Tacoma High School and then attended Green River Community College.  At the age of 17, Gerard started doing auto body work and continued throughout his life.  He was very talented and became well known for the work he did.  Gerard was united in marriage to Sue Hipp on June 2, 1984 in Washington.   In July of 1989, they moved to Sioux City, IA and later, in January of 2000 they moved to South Sioux City, NE.  Gerard was a man of strong Faith and attended services regularly River Hills Church.  He enjoyed the beauty of nature, feeding the birds and squirrels, and being outdoors.  He especially loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Sue Doyle, South Sioux City, NE; children: Elisha Schmeckpeper (Alan Schmeckpeper), Philip Doyle (Ase Overfelt), Tina Cleveland (Chad Cleveland) , Thais Karels (Justin Woods) and Rebekah Karels (Jesse Jensen ); grandchildren: Erykah, Kahyra, Tyrome, Sophia, Caden, Nolan, Kendall, McGuire, Payton and Jocelyn; great-grandchildren: Ahsha, Patrice, Valerie, Davon Jr., Roman and Jadon; Siblings: brothers: Joe, Pat, Eddie, Bobby Sisters: Karen, Maureen, Gloria and Sheila.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
