Jacqueline (Jackie) Osterholt, 84, of Sioux City, IA passed away Monday, February 13, 2023 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by her family.
Jacqueline was born April 10, 1938 to Jens Thomas Iverson (Red) and Claire Pauline Blangy in Sioux City, IA. Jacqueline loved reading so much that it wasn’t uncommon that she would be reading more than one book at a time. She also enjoyed golfing, painting, especially with her daughter Sue, watching numerous deer in her front yard with Theresa, playing cards, attending stock car races, wintering in Donna, Texas and stopping at every casino she could when she traveled with her youngest daughter Missy and her husband Bobby. She enjoyed spending several hours at the boat and the Hard Rock with her daughter, Cheri. She was very fortunate to have traveled to Mazatlan’, Costa Rica, Germany, Dominican Republic and several more. Battling cancer 6 times, receiving a new hip, fighting pneumonia and influenza at the same time, and dealing with heart disease, she always kept a positive attitude and was such a trooper. Her strength was unreal. She was definitely the family’s rock.
Jackie was a cashier for many years for IGA grocery store, worked at Three Sisters, sold carpet and worked as an interior designer at Magic Carpet, was assistant manager for Bonanza, Bookkeeper at R&D Equipment with her best friend, Doris Tyndall. Jackie and Alan opened Old Town Antiques, which was one of the first businesses on 4th Street. The two of them stayed in business for 15 yrs before retiring. Another one of their biggest accomplishments was the renovation of their beautiful home on 21st and Pierce Street and filling it full of antiques that they both loved dearly.
Everyone that had the pleasure of knowing and loving Jackie knew the love she had for her dangling earrings, rings and lipstick! She never left the house without them.
She loved all of her grandchildren and I’m sure had special times with all of them! More recent were with her oldest granddaughter Heather and her family. They spent many hours sitting on her porch drinking coffee, watching the horses, sunrises, and sunsets. Even at 84, she loved going for rides in her oldest great-grandson’s Can-Am and always wanted to go faster. Her trips to Colorado to see Robbie and her time in Florida with granddaughter Lisa and Phil, her dream was to make it back to Disney World and go on the Avatar ride. Avatar was one of her favorite Disney movies, and don’t forget her Margaritas!
Jacqueline married Ronald Spurlin on October 22, 1953; they had two daughters, Theresa Lynn and Cheri Renee. Four years later she married Robert M. Finley on August 24, together they brought two daughters into the world, Suzanne Marie and Jacqueline Rae. Then she finally found her soul mate, Alan C. Osterholt and married him on December 1, 1984. The love those two had for each other people could only wish for.
Jackie is survived by her son James Osterholt (Amy) of Sioux Falls SD; daughters, Cheri Farris (Bill) and Suzanne Hall all of Sioux City, IA; Jacqueline (Missy) Gill (Robert) of Jackson NE; and Barb Wade of Illinois; her brothers, Robert Iverson (Vickie); Jim Moore (Judy); Thomas Moore (Cindy); Tim Iverson (Debbie) all of Sioux City, IA; and Jerry Moore (Rhonda) New Castle, Indiana; her sisters, Penny Noble (John Treglia) and Betty Leckband of Sioux City, IA; Kathy Moore of LeMars, IA; 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
