Jeannine Ann Herbst, 79, of Sioux City and formerly of South Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at her residence. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in South Sioux City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Jeannine was born on April 1, 1943 in South Sioux City, to John and Valeria (Rosenbach) Conley. She attended St. Michael’s school through the 8th grade and graduated from South Sioux City High School; she then went on to attend classes at WITCC in Sioux City.
On June 3, 1961 Jeannine married Edwin Herbst at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in South Sioux City.
Jeannine was a Siouxland resident throughout her life. She worked in the factory at both Sioux Tools and Zenith; worked in the warehouse for Donnelley Marketing until her classes at WITCC shifted her more into office work; owned her own typing business; and ran her own daycare. She finished her working career in IT at Gateway.
In her free time, Jeannine enjoyed camping, crocheting, and sewing; she was a member of the Northwestern Gadabouts; and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory include her husband, Edwin Herbst of Sioux City; her children: Karin Ramirez, Paul Herbst, and Stacey Webb, all of Sioux City; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Valeria (Rosenbach) Conley of South Sioux City; siblings, Pat Conley of South Sioux City; Celestine Ourada of Sioux City; and James Conley of South Sioux City.
