Marilyn Chase, 88 of Ponca, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021 at her residence while on hospice care. Abiding by her wishes, cremation has taken place, and graveside services in Newcastle will be later this year. Mohr Funeral Home has assisted the family.
Marilyn was born on March 28, 1933 in Villisca, Iowa to Andrew and Ester (Bennett) Crombie. She attended school in Ponca before graduating from Excelsior High School in California. She married William Chase in 1951, and the couple later divorced.
Marilyn worked for Kraft Foods in Buena Park, California before her retirement at age 55. She returned to Ponca in 1993. She loved spending time with her family, playing Bingo, and holding every baby she could get her hands on. Grandma, as most people called her, had several families that would bring their children to visit her, and the pantry before they left.
Marilyn is lovingly remembered by her three sons Rick, Bill, and Andy, all of Ponca; three grandchildren Ricky (Michele) Chase, Ranessa Chase, and Cassie (Paul) Conroy; 7 great-grandchildren Kyla (Brady) Andrews, Ricky Koepke, Rusty Chase, Michael Chase, Kinzlea Koepke, Hope Conroy, and Justin Chase.
Waiting at Heaven’s Gate to great her are her parents, aunt and 2nd Mom Kate Bauman, ex-husband Bill, special friend Caroline Brown, brother Andy Crombie, sister-in-law Shirley Crombie, nephew Randy Crombie, daughter-in-law Rita Chase, grandchildren Rena Koepke and Rusty Chase, and great-grandson Paul Koepke.
