Nancy was born on March 29th, 1941 in Sioux City, Iowa, to Louise and Ray Cabana.  She attended Bishop Heelan Catholic High School.   On June 20, 1966, she married Michael Irwin (Mick) to whom she was happily married for 56 years.  She was a lifelong devoted Catholic and resident of Sioux City, Iowa.

In her younger years, she worked as a pharmacy assistant at Thompson Drug, and later enjoyed bartending part-time at a few local establishments.  She spent most of her time as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, cousin, and friend.  She deeply loved being with her family, tending to her yard, and sunbathing, especially in Lake Okoboji.  Among her favorite yearly events was hosting their famous Labor Day Fish Fry and Family Bingo night.  Nancy and Mick loved to travel and also spent a few years in Fountain Hills, Arizona.  They were a beloved couple known and loved by many.  Nancy’s kind disposition, listening ear, and infectious laughter will be greatly missed.

Nancy is survived by her husband Mick Irwin; her sister, Pam LaScala (Cabana); two children, Shelley Goodell (Irwin) and her husband Larry Goodell; and Michaelene Brownfield (Irwin); six grandchildren, Brittany Hoefling and her fiancé, George Davis; Rachel Zander and her husband, Phil Zander; Jeff Christiansen, Sydney Goodell, Alex Goodell, and Nicholas Goodell; and five great grandchildren, Jayda Davis, Elijah Christiansen, Kingston Davis, Marina Zander and Finn Zander.  She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Hoefling, her brothers, Greg Cabana and Dick Cabana, and her parents.   She passed away peacefully and prayerfully in her own home, surrounded by loved ones.

The family would like to especially thank Hospice of Siouxland and Visiting Angels.
