Robert E. Hunt

August 9, 1930 — February 18, 2022

Robert E. Hunt, 91, of Sioux City, IA passed away February 18, 2022.  A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m. at Trimble United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling the arrangements.  Online condolences may be made to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Bob was born on August 9, 1930 in Sioux City, IA to E. Porter and Eva (Yockey) Hunt.  He was baptized and confirmed at Whitfield Methodist Church.  He graduated from high school and began working for Younker-Martins Department Store.  Bob was united in marriage to Mable Neddermeyer on July 24, 1960 at Whitfield Methodist Church.  They later joined Trimble United Methodist Church.  Bob received an award for fifty years of church service in 2002.  The couple lived in Sioux City their entire life together.  Mable passed away on September 3, 2011.

Bob was proud of being the longest resident of Brookdale Senior Housing (Formerly Northpark.)  His friends there became like family.  They and his siblings, nephews and nieces, were most important to him.  Rose Peters especially spent many hours with Bob, playing cards and visiting.  Bob wrote letters to his family often, telling of his activities such as bingo and coffee time.

Those left to honor his memory include his sisters: Shirley Lincoln-Milligan and Barb Davis; nephews: Dennis (Karla) Brown, David (Jenna) Hunt, Steve Hunt, Mark (Kim) Davis, Brian (Alyce) Davis, Dana Davis; nieces: MaryBeth (Robert) Johnson, Mancy (Al) Mattison-Trevino, Susan (Lee) Schott, Cynthia Breaux, Lynda (Mike) Driscoll, Cheri (Manuel) Davis0Tapia, Brenda Davis; Mable’s nieces and nephew: Jane VanLaningham, Rose Peters, and Randy VanLaningham; and special niece-in-law, Candy Lincoln.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mable; a stillborn son, sisters: Betty Jean Wagner and Phyllis Mattison; brothers: William, Bruce and Nate; sisters-in-law: Pat Hunt, Mary Hunt, “Midge” Hunt; brothers-in-law: Clarence Brown, Don Madison, Robert Lincoln, and Jack Davis; nephews: Michael Lincoln, Chuck Loula, and Jeff Davis; and niece, Sandy Brown.
