Suzanne was born on November 11, 1965, to Holly and Mae (Mohrhauser) Barron in Sioux City. As a child, she enjoyed riding horses, being in Okoboji with her family, roller skating, and spending time in Danbury with her Grandpa Al, Grandma Adeline, Aunts, Uncles, and many cousins. As a teen and until her grandmother’s passing in 1999, Suzanne loved spending time with her Grandma Hazel. She attended Crescent Park Elementary, Hoover Middle, and Sioux City West High School, graduating in 1983. Throughout her life, she had many skills that allowed her to make lifelong friends along the way as she pursued different career paths.

Suzanne enjoyed reading, watching horror movies, listening to music, dancing, and taking naps with her beloved cats. She was happiest when she was spending time with her family, whether going out to eat, getting together for the holidays or just having a weekend BBQ. Suzanne was often the reason we would all get together, always asking for family movie nights and Sunday dinners. She loved making everyone laugh and was always there to offer advice. She loved swimming with her grandchildren, who called her Porkchop, at the Siouxland Y and taking them to eat Mickey Mouse pancakes at Horizon after. Always the life of the party, Suzanne also loved spending time with her best friend, Lisa Scofield, having drinks at their favorite local bar.

Suzanne is survived by her mother, Mae Barron, two daughters; Chantal (Jeremy) Albertsen and Cheree Whitead of Sioux City, IA, her brother, David Barron, nieces and nephew; Cassie (Justin) Doran, Cameron and Chloe Barron, grandchildren; Carson O’Tool, Kiara and Owen Albertsen, her cat, Potsy and her fish, Iris.

She is preceded in death by her father, Holly H., her nephew, Caleb Barron, and beloved cats Ariel and Lump.

She will be missed greatly by her family and friends. The world has lost a kind soul that would give the shirt off her back to help a stranger, even while fighting her own demons. As she said every time she was with her grandkids, “You can’t stop the Chop.”
