The Meyer brothers, Bill and Chuck came to Sioux City in the 1960’s. Bill purchased the Manning-O’Toole Funeral Home and Chuck purchased Perasso Brothers Funeral Home. In 1968, they purchased the Anderson Funeral Home and relocated the Perasso Brothers Funeral Home into the Anderson Funeral Home location.
In 1973, the Manning O’Toole Funeral Home had to relocate due to urban renewal and a new facility was built on the corner of Hamilton Blvd and Stone Park Blvd. It was called the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Chuck’s son, Dale Meyer joined the firm in 1979. Bill’s daughter joined the company in 1983.
Meyer Brothers opened, Siouxland Crematory, the first crematory in Sioux City in 1981.
Bill Meyer retired in 1992 and Chuck Meyer Retired in 1997.
Meyer Brothers purchased the Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel and the Nelson Berger Morningside Chapel in 2001. The Morningside Chapel was relocated to 6200 Morningside Avenue in 2007 and renamed Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.
In 2017, Meyer Brothers purchased the Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City and in 2018 Meyer Brothers purchased the Mohr Funeral Homes in South Sioux City and Ponca, NE. The Becker-Hunt Funeral Home was relocated into the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City and renamed Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home.
Cindy retired in 2018.
